Canadian Vaccination Program
Thoughts and Criticisms
Abstract
The Canadian healthcare system encourages those over the age of 6 months to get an annual flu vaccine, especially those in high risk groups. Vaccinations have been proven to help control influenza in high risk groups such as children and the elderly. Effective implementation is key in preventing influenza outbreaks. Factors that have a positive impact on implementation need to be considered. Such factors include timing of immunization to correspond with peak influenza season and consideration of vaccine perception among different demographic groups.
